There is serious consideration about bringing the stream of DFSX back to the Internet. After reading the posts on Captain Wayne's Mad Music Archive forum http://www.themadmusicarchive.com/forum.aspx regarding converting its site from podcasting to streaming only, and expenses involved in paying licensing fees amounting to thousands of dollars a year, there is serious consideration about bringing the stream of DFSX back online so it can stream the Mad Music Comedy Zone plus some old ISGD and Time Machine shows once again. A package on live365 would cost $120 a year for a 200MB allocation to store the files needed for the programs. The stream rate would be 24kbps, 22MHz, and mono in order to get the highest fidelity that can be used by dial-up users. Only shows produced in-house (in the 27-square-foot studio near Kearny Mesa) would be on DFSX as they're the only ones that are completely DMCA compliant when they are produced for use on live365.com. DFSX will no longer solicit radio shows from other people. DFSX cannot rebroadcast programs that are not DMCA compliant such as single files containing multiple songs.
In order to get this off the ground, we have to keep costs down to a minumum,
and a 200MB package would yield five listeners at a time at the most
for its free streams. To afford a more expensive package, the selling of Stupid Audio CDs
is necessary as each CD yields $5 to $7 towards paying for the broadcast package.
Also in the planning stages: a one hour podsafe version of the ISGD show for the MMA as well as a podcast website. It would also be streamed on DFSX. The podsafe version of ISGD won't be produced weekly; it will be produced only when there's enough material from all different artists to make a one-hour show. Other hours of ISGD (in one-hour installments) would be produced only for DFSX. All of the features except for New Strokes (podsafe on the podcast version) would migrate to ISGD. Features on ISGD on DFSX: Whimsical Will's Demented News, The O.B. Ranger, Ask Dr. Science, David Tanny Song of the Week, Of Note, David's Groove Thing, Vintage Dementia, 80's Enough, D.T. Goes Out of Left Field, Time Machine, Four Play Themes, Random Selections.
