D.T. Releases Stupid Audio 5.0 (February 26, 2008)
Full Details Here:http://www.davidtanny.com/90050.htm Can't he just stop making funny songs and sketches? Uh, no. David Tanny continues to bridge the gap between mainstream and dementia is comedy, a genre that everybody can relate to. With today's mainstream music shunning comedy, and the genre of dementia not convincing radio that it needs to play its stuff, Stupid Audio 5.0 tackles to problem with a subject everybody can relate to: television. The CD had a soft launch announced only at davidtanny.com on February 5, 2008. It's official release date, however, is February 26, 2008. Originally designed to be a "Stupid TV" or "Stupid Video" album consisting of the greatest hits about television, which will come later, "SA 5.0" is nevertheless subtitled "Stupid Video 1.0"...without the video since Tanny hasn't figured a way how to put a homemade video on a DVD, so for now, enjoy the audio comedy about television. This CD opens up with a takeoff of the SCTV station identification sweeper, replacing the "C" with the "A", hence, "SATV." Then we go back to a time when we could listen to Dr. Demento on an actual broadcasting radio station back in 1981 for an original comedy rap song about the weekly experience with the song "Goin' Back to L.A.", which is a parody of "Goin' Back to Cali" by L.L. Cool J. This song hits three notes: a parody of a well-known 80s rap song, the setting is still in California, and the subject is about driving out of town to listen to a radio show not carried in their area. Also included is a four-part sketch masterpiece, "Dope Deal or No Dope Deal," which is obviously a parody of the game show "Deal or No Deal", except done the way Cheech and Chong would have written it, and in case you're wondering why the ring sounds so familiar, it's because it's also an unofficial sequel to their 1980 game show sketch "Let's Make a New Dope Deal," which in turn is a sequel to their original "Let's Make a Dope Deal." The contestant, Tom Bitchin', is the son of Bob, the contestant on the original Cheech and Chong Deal pieces. (Get it? Bob and Tom?) The sketch, "The Adventures of Humid Man", bumped off of the "Stupid Audio 4.0" CD release due to space limitations, is included as promised. A sequel is in the works. There's also several spoofs of TV announcements that have fun with TV and music, commercial parodies, and a song parody about a sailor man. There's also a sequel to the "Gold" record offer spoof, as well as the third installment of "Watch The Frog", a commercial about a man who's his own bank, and an unsolved mystery regarding Valerie Bertinelli's cuteness. Also included at long last is the theme song for the "Mad Music Dementia Top 20" radio show called "Thunderstreet." It's a simple one minute melody that's been inside Tanny's head since 1967. The Mad Music Dementia Top 20 Radio Show is hosted by DJ Particle since January 2008. Before that, Tanny hosted it since its inception (as the Dementia Top 20) on the now-defunct DFSX radio stream, and the theme song became the theme song starting with the Mad Muaic podcast edition (renamed The Mad Music Dementia Top 20 show) in July of 2007. "Stupid Audio" addresses what's been missing from dementia for years: comedy. It's funny stuff that's actually funny, with subjects the common person can enjoy as much as the geek person. Sadly this time around, there's no songs about video games. The unreleased song "Buffy the Vampire Teller Slayer" will be released on Stupid Audio 6.0 in the fall of 2008. Tanny, a veteran webperson who's celebrating a whopping thirteen years on the WWW on his informative comedy music news website http://www.davesfunstuff.com/, is a seasoned Internet journalist, critic, novelty music fanatic, former Internet radio station programmer, and comedy and novelty recording artist, informing well over 10,000,000 visitors to various incarnations of his websites in that time span. His other four CDs sold nearly 400 copies combined. Also being planned is "The David Tanny 10th Anniversary Colelction" (formerly titled "SA10") for 2008, celebrating ten years of recording dementia with the greatest David Tanny dementia of all time, as well as "Stupid Audio 6.0". "Stupid Audio 7.0" will be released in 2009. The CD "Originals Volume One" will be released in 2009 since we have too many projects going on this year. The "Stupid Audio 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, Rap With Howard, and 5.0" CDs are all found at http://www.davidtanny.com/
