Get David Tanny's Songs on Dr. Demento's Radio Show (2000)Well, I thought long and hard and have decided to go forward with my request after carefully thinking this one out for months. Here is the complete story. For the last seven months, since March 2000, you may have been noticing that I have made some of my songs available on MP3 download on a now defunct website as well as hearing the songs online at http://www.dfsxradio.com/, DFSX Comedy Radio, both designed to give my songs exposure to the world via the Internet for lack of anybody willing enough to give them a chance. Thanks to Crazy Jay for playing my previous demented song "Dead Kennys" on Feb 21, 1999 and to Chris Waffle for playing "Jeopardy" on Sep 18, 1999 on their comedy radio shows. Although they were crude when I recorded them, I have since rerecorded "Dead Kennys 2000" with a computer once I figured out how to work the Magix MIDI sampler software program. My songs that I have sent in to Dr. Demento's radio show, however, haven't gotten a fair chance at all. My latest effort in March 2000, when I sent in about 12 songs to The Demento Society, failed. Aside of the fact that they were on cassette, I don't see anything wrong with the songs I have recorded. Quoted Dr. Demento via e-mail, "...there just wasn't anything on it that I felt I could use on the show." Let's see now. I recorded my version of "Pokemon" in Feb 2000. Weird Al recorded his "Polkamon" shortly after that. The latter got played in July. Mine never got played. My parody of the song "C'Mon Take The Train" called "C'Mon Drink the Beer" was recorded also in February 2000. The great Luke Ski recorded "C'Mon Ride The Bus" a few months later. His got played. Mine didn't. Do you think that is fair? I don't think so. I'm sorry, but as for the excuse of not finding anything of mine to air, I just cannot buy it anymore and I am frustrated, not to mention pretty much steamed up over this overlooking. I also recorded some fun songs about being a cowboy that I thought was far more amusing than songs he played about stalking that I find very offensive and disturbing. It's no wonder Dr. Demento is going down the drain by overlooking fun songs in favor of sick songs that are just not funny as stalking is a very serious crime that is not to be taken light of. I also wrote some amusing and fun songs about Britney Spears, Frasier, Mary Losing Her Little Lamb, and Hollywood Squares just to name a few. Dr. Demento has played some songs about Britney, nursery rhyme parodies, game shows, and sitcoms in the past. What's keeping him from playing these songs? I find the songs I wrote pretty simple and easy to relate to. I'm sorry if this is upsetting, but I have been living with this frustration for long enough and I feel it is time to take action and correct this serious overlook on Dr. Demento's part. Just go to the Dr. Demento Show Request Page and politely as Dr. Demento to play my songs on his radio show right here: On-line: http://www.clamhead.com/drd.php
Or E-mail it to: mailto:drdemento@drdemento.com
Now I ask you to request only the songs of mine that you really enjoy. If you don't like a particular song of mine, then please do not request that song. Even if you don't like any of my songs, just go to the Request Page and give Dr. Demento the message to be more open in new music selections as well as to give the newer comedy artists a better chance at exposure. And no, I'm not in it for the money or fame or anything like that. It is the principle of the matter that really counts in this case. Dr. Demento needs to open up to a wider range of funny music subjects and to get his show more on the fresher side. If he can play Weird Al's "Polkamon", then he should play my "Pokemon." If he can play lukeski's "Bus", then there's no valid reason why he can't play my "Beer." It's time that Dr. Demento gave my music a fair chance for exposure to the listeners. After all, it's the listener that decides what they want to hear, and they can't judge my songs if they've never heard them, nor request them if they have never heard them. Remember: The listener is always right. Thank you for your help. Sincerely David Tanny |
