Abs Diet PowerA Almonds and nutsB Beans S Spinach and green vegetables D Dairy, low-fat I Instant oatmeal E Eggs T Turkey and lean meats P Peanut butter, all-natural O Olive oil W Whole grains E Extra protein (whey) R Raspberries and other berries WelcomeWelcome to a new section on the stuff.davesfunstuff subdomain I call "What D.T. Eats!" It's simply a guide on what foods you should try to eat more of and what kinds of food you should steer away from.So many foods contain high amounts of fat that's it's hard to avoid them, but fortunately, with the help of Nutritional Information guides found on every food product sold, and many fast food websites, you can help maintain your weight or lose a small amount of it by eating more good foods, and eating less of the fatty foods. Eating right is only part of the goal. You should be doing some kind of exercising such as walking four times a week for 30 minutes a day, or riding a bike up a steep hill in order to lose some pounds. Make sure you get enough fiber in your diet and try to match the amount of protien you need. Eat foods rich in vitamins that are low in fat and cholesterol, some of which contains small amounts of needed protein. Eat breakfast of some sort everyday. You can get away with eating high calorie foods early in the day since you're going to need them to burn anyway. At dinner, limit your portions to about 16 ounces total of all foods for all non-vegetable and fruit items. Snack on an apple, orange, celery, banana, or other granola bar between meals. Avoid the candy bars, cookies, cakes, and chips. Watch the fat intake at the fast food restaurants serving breakfast items. Many of them are loaded with so much fat that you'll have to eat just veggies and fruit the rest of the day just to stay under your allowances for fat. Drink a bottle of V-8 everyday. It gives you 2-3 daily servings of vegetables in a drink! (not a product endorsement, a lower-priced store-brand knockoff where available will also do the job.) Watch the high fructose corn syrup intake! Soft drinks are the worst offender, so don't drink them. Some so-called healthy foods such as orange juice, granola, and yogurt also have high fructose corn syrup in the second or third item in the list of ingredients, which makes them too prominent to qualify as healthy foods. High fructose corn syrup, which adds sugars to the item, is as bad as sugar, which adds high amounts of calories. Read the nutritional information labels under the subitem "Sugars" found under "Total Carbohydrates."
